Assassin's Creed: Revelations

For my last blog I will be talking about Assassin's Creed Revelations, and I will also rate my Top 10 games. Revelations is the newest rendition of the series. It was created by Ubisoft Games, and is one of the most popular games of its time. This game lets you become the perfect assassin, and it offers one of the best story line campaigns that I have ever played. You also have the choice of playing online against people from around the world, and that offers an extra incentive for people to buy. The online allows you to pick your type of assassin, and also choose the weapon you like.

This game offers a very appealing campaign, and now an alright online server. Ubisoft is now making the next version of the series, and it will take place during the Revolutionary War. Since there is a new version being made I am making this a must rent. I will now share my Top 10 games that I play. I am more into the competitive side of gaming, but also like RPGs. My Top 10 favorite games are: 1.) Modern Warfare 3  2.)NBA 2K12  3.)Fallout 3  4.) Skyrim  5.) Dead Island  6.) Gears of War 3  7.)Fallout New Vegas  8.)AC Revelations  9.) Arkham City  10.) Madden 12. Those are my favorite games to play right now.

NBA 2K12

This week I reviewed NBA 2K12. This has always been the premier title for basketball fans, and this year it got even better. If putting Michael Jordan on the cover wasn't enough, they made much more realistic graphics. This game offers realistic shooting options, and also has updates that make the rosters as real as possible. You have the choice to play a quick game as your favorite team, make your own superstar, or create your own team to start a franchise with. Whatever you want than this game has it.

Another positive aspect of this game is the online play. You can connect to X Box Live, and play against other people from around the world. This makes it very competitive, and makes players compete to be the best in the game. Many people though just get this game to make their own version of themselves, become the best player in history. The only bad thing about this game is the trading aspect, and it is pretty tricky to try and not spend over your team's salary cap. This game can be played for hours without getting bored, and I am making it a must buy for any basketball fans.

   

Gears of War 3

This week I will be reviewing Gears of War 3. This game was released in September of 20011, which was a much earlier release date than other notable titles, such as MW3 and BF3. This game follows with its last two titles, and if you want to really understand it than you must play the first two. This game is action packed, and is full of monster killing action. You can kill the bad guys by filling them full of bullets, or you can chop them in half with you chainsaw if you want it to get gory. That choice is all up to you.

This game is only available on the X Box 360, but it still made loads of money when it came out. This game just got bigger, because the creators just released some new downloadable content. This added new maps for multi-player, and has already become a big hit. Unlike other shooters, Gears of War 3 is played in 3rd person, and this makes the game different, and a little more challenging when trying to take out a target from a distance. I am making this game a must buy, because of the great story line and good multi-player.

Battlefield 3

This week I will be reviewing EA's newest game, Battlefield 3. EA created this game to try and compete with Modern Warfare 3. They didn't come close to matching MW3, but they had some pretty good sales. If you play computer than this game has amazing graphics, but on normal game systems the graphics are good. The campaign on Battlefield is short , and isn't that fun to play. The multiplayer is where they mainly tried to get people. With large maps and tons of gun customizations, this game sounds like it would be amazing, but it's not. The maps are so big that people camp like no other, and helicopters and jet fighters make killing on the ground pretty difficult.

This is a game that you either love, or just completely despise. It sounded good when the commercials showed amazing graphics, but when I realized that that was just on computer and that X Box and PS3 couldn't handle those graphics it made me less interested. EA has made some popular title, and will keep competing to beat MW3. Battlefield 3 has some good potential, but didn't live up to what it was suppose to be. I am making this game a must rent for PS3 and X Box, but for PC gamers I am making it a must buy.

Madden 12

This week I played the newest installment of the Madden series. This has been one of the most popular series since it was first made. Madden 12 though offers some new additions to change things up. One new thing was the ability to allow you to trade future draft picks for players, and also it has got some better graphics. Though the game hasn't changed much over the years, it still is addicting. One of the most popular things to do is create your own player, and make all of his stats 99. This makes him unstoppable, and able to crush all the records.

Madden 12 also offers an online service, which means that you can play against other people from around the world to see who is the best. This makes the game very competative, and allows players to earn some bragging rights if they win. Electronic Arts is the creator, and they have made such games as Need for Speed and Battlefield 3. Madden is a good overall game, but can get pretty boring and repetative after playing for excessive amounts of time. I am making this game a must rent.

Arkham City

This week i played the very popular Batman: Arkham City, and i have to say i loved it. This game got a 10/10 rating, which was better than Skyrim and MW3. This sequal to Arkham Assylum lives up to its reputaion. You get to play as the Dark Knight, and have to try and take down Dr. Strange. Every evil enemy has been put into one place, and you must stop it. In this game you get tyo opperate all of Batman's famous gear; like the Batarang and Grappling hook. This game also offers tons of side quests that add to the amount of time needed to beat this game, and trust me it takes a lot of gaming time to finish this one.

Along with the typical missions you get to also have the chance to download some extra missions. You can get new characters, like Catwomen and Robin, and these give you the oppertunity to stray away from Batman, and have some different cappabilities and gameplay. I didn't play Arkham Assylum so this made a little hole in the story line, but if you do want to play this one I suggest that you play Assylum first. This is a great game that is different than most others. This game is hard to stop playing once you have started, and has a great story line. I am making this a must buy.

The Run

This week I went away from the shooters, and tried out Ned for Speed's new installment, The Run. This racing game was created by Electronic Arts, who have created other games such as Battlefield 3 and Madden, and they changed this one up a bit form the early Need for Speed games. You start of as a street racer who is being hunted down by the mob for not paying them their money you owe them. Now you must race from San Francisco to New York in order to win $25 million dollars, and get your life back. You have help from an friend who in return wants most of your winnings. You travel through snowey mountain trails, big cities, and vast desert plains.

This one allows you to have some time spent outside your car, but instead of actually controlling your character, you just push a button repeatedly to accomplish your goal. The cars look amazing as usual, and they have great detail, but you really don't get much of a choice of what car you want in you adventure. Unlike older Need for Speed games that let you customize cars to your liking, this one only offers you certain cars that can only have the color changed. This was a big disapointment due to the fact that creating a car to your liking was one of the funnest things about Need for Speed. This game may have had good graphics, but the repetative missions, and not being able to have much customization, I will make this game a must rent.

Fallout: New Vegas

This week I am doing the 4th chapter of Bethesda's series Fallout New Vegas. This time it takes place on the west coast side of the US. This part of the country wasn't hit as hard by the nuclear weapons, and still has electricity flowing everywhere. You start out by getting shot and left for dead, but before you die a robot, who saw the whole situation, takes you to the local doctor. Now you must search to find the man who tried to kill you, and on the way you can take part in tons of little side quests. As you look for the man who tried to kill you, you find Las Vegas, or as it is now called, New Vegas. It is lit up with lights, and all the gambling casinos are open for business.

Bethesda yet again created a never ending world to explore that has unlimited adventures to do. This game allows you though to interact, and control your teamates now. This game has also taken a sort of political tern by adding groups of different, surviving societies. You can choose if you want to join one, or you can destroy others. Just like Bethesda's other games, like Skyrim and Fallout 3, you have different types of customizations from your guns to your overall character. If you find yourself finished with the game then don't worry, because Bethesda has released 6 new downloadable content pactages that have many more new quests, and things to unlock. This is another great game that is a must buy, and now is for sale for only $20.

Fallout 3

This week I will be going back a couple years to 2008's Game of the Year, Fallout 3. This game was created by Bethesda, who also made Skyrim, and it is the same format, but is set when the world is destroyed by nuclear war, and you are a lone survivor who has to save the wasteland by finding a way to fix the wasteland's only water purifying plant. Just like Skyrim you have the choice of being the wasteland's hero or the evil wasteland killer. You start off by creating you character, and then you are forced from your home in an underground vault, and you have to find your father who up and disappeared out of nowhere. This game offers lots of weapon choices, that have to be repaired and maintained vigorously or else they will break in the middle of battle.

The enemies you fight can be just normal human raiders that want to rule the wasteland, mutated super mutants and ghouls, or the Enclave soldiers that are trying to stop your father, and take the purifier to have to themselves. This game offers a long main quest, but also allows you to go and complete tons of smaller side quests to help you level up, and become even stronger. One big aspect to this game is the ability to acquire teammates to help you along the road. Some teammates you are allowed are your faithful dog, Charon the slave, and Butch. You are only allowed to have one human and a dog at a time, and all characters have a certain criteria you must reach in order for them to follow you. Butch for example isn't bad or good, so you must be neutral. This is a great game, but since it is an older one i will make it a must rent.

 

Dead Island

This week i will be reviewing Dead Island. This game was developed by Techland and is unlike most other zombie products. This games main focus is just going out and killing as much as you can, and doing it with any means necessary. The story starts off letting you pick from four characters, and after you chose you wake up in a hotel room, and after you get outside you see a lady go flying over a balcony. You wake to the whole tropical island taken over by a zombie epidemic. You must help the surviviors not only stay alive, but find a way off the island.

Unlike a lot of zombie games that just have slow, similar zombies that can be avoided just by a light jog; this game offers many different types that are fast, strong, and hostile. You are also allowed to drive vehicles, which makes zombie slaying a little bit more enjoyable than it already is. This gory and intense game also allows hundreds of weapon customizations from a normal bat with nails to a gun that has bullets that electricute the ememy. Dead Island's tropical graphics are phenominal and I believe that Techland will not be hesitant to craete another installment of this big hit. Dead Island is a must own to those first person zombie fans, and is for sale for $50.

Skyrim

This week I will be reviewing the fifth rendition of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim. This is by far the longest and most time consuming game I have ever played. This game is packed with over 250 hours of game play and it definitely lives up to the series name. From realistic, advanced graphics and customizations that seem to never end, this game is a must buy for anybody that loves RPG type medieval games. Skyrim was released in early November, and Bethesda, who are the creators, packed this game full of quests and adventures from killing dragons wherever they are found, or just going rogue and destroying a whole town.

Skyrim offers tons of different customizations from the get go. At the start you are allowed to pick from many different races from orcs, dark elf, wood elf, etc. This game offers hundreds upon hundreds of different armor choices, weapon choices, and even the choice of owning houses. Bethesda made this game so that the fans can pretty much live how they want. You can get married, join many different clans, and learn many different spells and shouts to help you along the way. You also get the choice of being the hero and savior if you want, or just be the lone wolf bad guy who destroys and takes anything that gets in its path. I believe that this game is a must buy for $60.  

Modern Warfare 3

My first review and my favorite game of all time is on the greatest selling game of all time, and that is Modern Warfare 3. Released in early November in quickly surpassed other notable titles such as Battlefield 3 and Dead Island. It is made by the popular Infinity Ward and the new comer Sledgehammer. The game is known for having a short story line campaign, but its online multiplayer makes up for it. With millions of gamers already playing on its server it is only going to keep increasing. The popular online server offers various customizations that allow you to create the soldier that fits you.

Another upside to this game is the creation of Call of Duty Elite, which allows you to find friends or just other gamers and compete in tournaments. If you win than you can win virtual prizes or even real prizes, such as money. The extra content allows you to receive all the future downloadable content and lets you track your stats which will help you improve. MW3 is now $50 and it is worth the money, because if you love multiplayer games and competing with others than this is the best choice for you. My score for this game is a 10/10.
